Kidney Meridian

“Kidneys are regenerating and repairing themselves throughout life”

Function

  • The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs, about the size of a fist. They are located in the back just below the rib cage, on each side of the spine. Every day, the two kidneys filter about 120 to 150 quarts of blood to produce about 1 to 2 quarts of urine, composed of wastes and extra fluid. Kidneys filtrate all the fluids, including the blood, lymph, synovial, cerebral-spinal fluid, and interstitial fluids that carry debris released by the cells in detox and metabolism.
  • Proper kidney function is related to HPA Axis (hypothalamus – pituitary – adrenals) and Autonomous Nervous System response. Hormone cortisol is produced by the kidney channel when we experience stress/fear and overstimulation. Kidney health is vital for harmonizing all systems in the human body and mind.
