Liver Meridian

The liver is like the general – courageous and smart

Function

  • It is responsible for filtering, detoxifying, nourishing, replenishing and storing blood. It regulates the amount of blood circulating, withdrawing and storing it when resting or sleeping and releasing it during exercise.
  • Mentally, we plan our time, arrange and rearrange our schedules (contingency plans) in order to reach goals. Once we reach a goal, a new goal is set. The Liver grants us powers of reason, clarity of thought, logic, the ability to “see” with the mind’s eye what is communicated by another, as well as to present our ideas in a way that others can “see” what we mean.
  • Anger is the emotion associated with the Liver. If you are often irritable, get angry easily, have trouble unwinding from the day’s activities, have trouble reasoning or going with the flow and letting things go, you are experiencing a Liver function problem. Experiencing these emotions chronically or excessively can seriously unbalance the function of your Liver.

Benefits of stimulation

Exercises that stimulate the inner side of both legs and the front of the torso help with:

  • Inflammation
  • Digestive complaints
  • Ribcage tightness
  • Feelings of anger and irritability
  • Eye soreness and dryness
  • Tightness of the inner thighs

  • Massage and lymph movement for detoxification
  • Positive outlook on everyday routine
  • Release the old and accept the new
  • Meditation, Yoga, Acupuncture
  • Eat an alkaline diet of fresh vegetables lightly cooked in steam. GREEN vegetables, lots of natural fiber from vegetables.
